Rice Sticks and Tea’s Holiday Gift Drive 2017

Dear Friends,

Ricesticks and Tea welcomes and needs your participation for our annual holiday gift drive. We hope that a small gift can help to lift the spirits of the families we serve and bring holiday cheer.

RST continues to be the regional food pantry program dedicated to serving Boston’s low-income, majority non- or limited-English speaking Asian community. RST provides culturally appropriate food staples, such as jasmine rice, cooking oil, dried red beans, bamboo shoots, and Asian noodles and fresh produce. Our dedicated volunteers include bilingual speakers who can communicate with our families in their native languages to create a more culturally competent and comfortable atmosphere.

With your support, we hope to be able to give a gift to all of the 300 youth, adults & seniors we serve. In addition to the gift drive we also host a holiday party with breakfast, singing of holiday carols, and distribution of the gifts.

You/Your organization can help us in the following ways:

  • Provide a gift for as many or few families or individuals as you are comfortable
  • Donate money and we will buy the gifts or supplies needed for the holiday party
  • Donate money for food/supply purchases, or organize a food drive to sustain RST year-round
  • Spread the word to your personal networks to support RST with gifts or financial support

Gifts are intended to be small, thoughtful tokens of $20 and under per gift. We hope everyone receives something for the holidays and it is the thought that really matters. We will provide you with further details, including the gender and age of the individual(s) so you can select an appropriate gift.

We hope you will consider contributing and putting a smile on the face of our many children, adults, and seniors in the program.

Please contact us at ricesticksandtea@gmail.com if you would like to support clients.

Holiday Gift Drive 2012

Dear Friends,

Hope all is well with you and loved ones. The holidays are just around the corner! The Ricesticks and
Tea (RST) holiday party is earlier this year so we need to kick start our gift drive.

RST is the only Boston area food pantry program dedicated to serving the Boston area low‐income,
often non‐ or limited‐English speaking Asian community. Food staples are culturally appropriate, and
have included jasmine rice, cooking oil, dried red and mung beans, and Asian noodles. Volunteers
always include bilingual speakers who can communicate with our families in their native languages.

In the holiday spirit, we host an annual gift drive and holiday party for the 120 households we serve.
At the holiday party we serve food, sing holiday carols, invite Santa to bring cheer and merriment, and
the giftswe want to ensure that each family receives a small holiday gift to lift their spirits.

Can you help us by:

  • Adopting as many families, children, or seniors as you are comfortable doing
  • Donating money so that we can buy the gifts or supplies needed for the holiday party and/or
for general operating costs (i.e., food purchases) to sustain the program year‐round
  • Spreading the word to your personal networks to support with gifts or financial support

Gifts are intended to be small tokens, up to $20/person/gift. It’s the thought that counts; most
important is that everyone receives something. We will provide you with further details/criteria and
the name, gender and age of your “adoptee/s” so you can get an appropriate gift.

Whether you are already a volunteer or supporter of Ricesticks and Tea or not we hope you will
consider joining us this year in making sure that each of the 323 children, adults and seniors in the
program receives a gift.

Please let us know by November 19th if you can adopt a client (sooner is better) and drop off the gift(s)
by Wednesday, November 28th so that we may plan accordingly for any family members still in need of
a gift.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions on how to adopt a family @
ricesticksandtea@gmail.com. Donations can be made by check and mailed to:

Annual Holiday Gift Drive

Ricesticks and Tea serves the low-income Boston area Asian community, providing culturally appropriate food staples that supplement what families are able to purchase in a linguistically accessible setting.

In the holiday spirit, we host an annual gift drive and holiday party for the kids, adults and seniors in the program. We need the help and support of friends, volunteers, and donors to ensure that we provide a gift to all of our families, approximately 300 gifts.

Gifts are intended to be small tokens, up to $20/person/gift. It is the thought that counts, and we want everyone to receive something. We will provide you with further details/criteria, and the name, gender and age of your “adoptee/s” so you can get an appropriate gift. Please consider:

  • Adopting as many families, children, or seniors as you are comfortable doing and getting them a gifts
  • Donating money so that we can buy the gifts or other supplies needed for the holiday party
  • Donating money for general operating costs of the program to sustain it year round

In addition to collecting and distributing gifts and the normal food allocations, we serve food, sing holiday carols, and as a special treat Santa brings cheer and merriment to the holiday party.

Please let us know no later than Wednesday, November 30th if you can adopt a client and drop off the gift(s) by Wednesday, December 7th. Please contact us with any questions or to adopt a family @ ricesticksandtea@gmail.com.

Thank you in advance for your participation and support.
